The attrition rate is a factor, normally expressed as a percentage, reflecting the degree of losses of personnel due to various causes within a specified period of time.

Follow this calculation;

  • As at Jan - 80 FTEs
  • As at Dec - 65 FTEs
  • The calculation is worked out by adding staff in place at start of year and at end of year and divide by 2 - therefore = 80 + 65 / 2 = 72.5
  • Leavers during period = 27
  • Calculation for attrition = 27 / 72.5 * 100% = 37.24%
