Base Staff

Base staff refers to the absolute minimum number of full time equivalent staff required to meet service level.

So if using an erlang calculator, the base staff number will be the result of applying the service level objective to call volume and average handling time.

It is described as base staff, as allowances need to be made for staff shrinkage to cover absence.
